Carlos, Leone: born 1973 in Lisbon, Portugal. Currently working as a visiting scholar at Brown University, RI, USA (Brazilian & Portuguese Studies Dpt.). Post-doctoral research: contemporary Portuguese intellectuals in exile. PhD in History of Ideas (New University of Lisbon, 2004, published by the Portuguese National Press, Lisbon, 2005) on the critical discourse in contemporary Portuguese culture. Teacher at Lusofona University, Lisbon. Researcher at Rothermere American institute, University of Oxford. 2006 preparares an English-language book version of current research as a visiting scholar during Michaelmas Term in Wolfson College (University of Cambridge). Published several books and academic papers in Portuguese and several papers in English (in USA, Roumania, England and Australia). Editing the Portuguese secton of a reader in European Romanticism to appear in 2007. Previous professional experience as a journalist and translator. Main fields of work: contemporary Portuguese culture, philosophy, methodology of social sciences (a subject about which he is currenlty preparing a reader to be published by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon).
