Ziyodullo Shahidis opera "Komde and Madan" - Aspects of tolerance, humanity, cultural exchange, music and other values

Richard Steurer (Wien)

ABSTRACT:

Defining mutual and unifying values of modern cultures of Central Asia and Europe both regions directly and indirectly benefit in creating bilateral relationship on a new level. One of these mutual values is music, especially opera. Although Shahidis important opera "Komde and Madan" is very well known in Central Asia, it was not performed in Europe until now. As the most important conductor of contemporary operas, Walter Kobéra from the "Neue Oper Wien" is deeply interested into staging "Komde and Madan" in Vienna, there is a great opportunity to discuss fascinating aspects of visions of peace, tolerance and understanding between different cultures which are the main ideas of the opera, incorporated in the two loving protagonists Komde and Madan.

The speech will be about these themes (in comparison with famous "European" operas) and the project of staging the opera in Vienna. - With music.
