Aguirre, Roberto, Theatre professor, researcher and director. Founder and manager of Teatro de Repertorio.

In the Provincial Contest 2000, he obtains the Prize to the Best Director of Buenos Aires and directs:La duda by Diana Lía Amiama which premier takes place in the Teatro Argentino de La Plata. He is called up for the Stage Direction of the Opera “Alcestes” by W. Glück at the Teatro Argentino-La Plata with Music Direction by Carlos López Puccio and Scenography by the Czech artist, Milan Davis, 2002.

His debut as a Theatre Director was made with the play M. Pedro Pathelin at the Alianza Francesa produced by la Asociación Argentina de Actores in the year 1980 and since then, he has staged numerous performances. Among them Broadway Melody 1492 by Jura Soyfer in 1992; Fando y Lis by Fernando Arrabal, Der Horatier by Heiner Müller; Der jasager / Der neinsager and Die Gewehre der Frau Carrar, both by Bertolt Brecht. Odd Couple by Neil Simon, Visita by Ricardo Monti, Woyzeck by Georg Büchner, The Trojan Women by Euripides, Herr Paul by Tankred Dorst.

He was given a National Grant (Theatre Direction) by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes(National Fund for the Arts) in 1988. Invited by the Brecht-Zentrum and the Berliner Ensemble to represent Argentina in Berlin 1988. He has received multiple prizes and awards at regional, provincial and international levels for the production of The Dance of Death by August Strindberg, Concierto de aniversario by Eduardo Rovner, Kaspar by Peter Handke, Trommeln in der Nacht by Bertolt Brecht.

He was invited to the 6th Congress of Theatre Researchers of Athens ’96 and appointed Director in Argentina of the European Institute of Theatrical Research based in London.

He took part in the Bratislava International Colloquy ’97 and, invited by ALAADA, went on tour to Colombia (The Trojan Women by Eurípides, Octubre ’97), European Cultural City Stockholm ’98 (The Trojan Women, March ’98) to Sweden – Germany. Participated with the ITI of France and Sweden ’99 with Fando y Lis by Fernando Arrabal. With Concierto de aniversario, he started an Internacional Tour around Sweden (Alias Teatern), Denmark (Odin Teatern), Austria (Amnesty International and Wien Kultur) and he made his contribution in the Kansas Festival–USA year 2000. During 2001, he travels around Greece (Kalamata, Pilos, Athens) with Antígonas, linaje de hembras (Antígonas, a Linage of Females) by Jorge Huertas, in the 1st Internacional Festival of Old Theatre and he was a Special Guest at Sognando la Argentina, Florence-Italy with Sueños by Enrique Morales.

Currently, he is a Representative of National Theatre Tasks and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Theatre.
