Barratt, Leslie: born in New Jersey, USA. Professor of Linguistics at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, U.S.A. Lived in five other countries, including one year each in Hungary and China on Fulbright Teaching Scholarships. Teaching and research interests: language learners, current language variation and change, politeness differences among cultures and within the U.S., native versus non-native teachers, empowering language learners to learn. Mentoring students in Linguistics/TESL at Indiana State. President of Indiana Partners of the Americas with Partner state Rio Grande do Sul in Brasil.
