Li, Xia: born and educated in China. Lives since 1986 in Australia. Convenor of Chinese at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Lectures Chinese language and literature. Research interests: theory and practice of translation, Chinese and comparative literature with particular reference to intertextuality. Published extensively on Chinese and comparative literature. Editor of: Essays, Interviews, Recollections and Unpublished Material of Gu Cheng, 20th Century Chinese Poet: The Poetics of Death (New York: Edwin Mellen Press, 1999). English translation of Gu Cheng’s novel Ying’er was published in 1995 in Projekt Verlag, Dortmund.
