Mu, Aili is assistant professor of Chinese in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Iowa State University, Ames, IA. She received the PhD in comparative literature from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Prof Mu teaches undergraduate courses in both Chinese language and culture. Her special areas of interest are Chinese aesthetic theory, contemporary Chinese popular culture and cinema. Her recently published work includes Loud Sparrows: Contemporary Chinese Short-shorts. Her most recent project, Moments of Truth: The Short-shorts Phenomenon in China, investigates the exceptional success of the short-short fiction in contemporary China.
