Popescu, Floriana: born 1956 in Barlad, Romania. Associate professor at the “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galatz, Romania. 1999 PhD in philology – general linguistics, University of Bucharest (Diss. Tense and Aspect in the Epistolary Novel – with a focus on Richardson’s Pamela). Author of two books (“Tempo-aspectualitate contrastivă” Iaşi, Spanda, 2000 and “The Verb and the Verb Phrase in Contemporary English” Galatz, 2000). Co-author to a series of 6 textbooks intended for high school students (Limba Engleza) by the Teora Publishing House in Romania. Published more than 20 papers in refereed journals and in inter/national conference proceedings. Director of the Department of Translation Studies at the Research Centre of the Interface of the Original and Translated Text. Member of APT (Association of Professional Translators, in Romania), RSEAS (Romanian Society for English and American Studies), and ESSE (European Society for the Study of English). Interests: English lexicology, lexical semantics, word formation, LSP, translation studies.
