Popescu, Lorenta, born 1955 in Bucharest, Romania. She graduated the Faculty of Foreign Languages, English-French at the University of Bucharest in 1979. She worked as a highschool teacher, then as a translator in an Industrial Research Institute. Since 1990 she has been working as a bibliographer at the Romanian Academy Library, Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books. She had a scholarship at the Japanese Language Institute of Urawa in Japan between 1992 and 1993. In 1993 she undertook a seminar on Bibliographic Control, IFLA resumed for updating information in 2007. She collaborated as a researcher at the European Center for Studies on Ethnic Issues and Social Communication in 1995. At the same time she translated into Romanian Charles Upson Clark’s book Bessarabia, Roumania, Russia at the Black Sea (1925). She also completed two research stages at the Czech Academy of Sciences in 1999 and at the Bulgarian Archive Library in 2001. In 2005 she got a diploma as an Oral Examiner for TELC. At present she is am a Ph.D. student in Lexicology at the Institute of Linguistics of the Romanian Academy.
