Socanac, Lelija: born 1956 in Zagreb, Croatia. Researcher at the Linguistic Research Institute, Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Zagreb. Director of the project “Croatian in Contact with European Languages”. Research interests: sociolinguistics, contact linguistics (focusing on historical Croatian/Romance language contacts and the present-day influence of English as a global language).
