Wagner-Lawlor, Jennifer A. is Professor of English at the University of Memphis and since 2001 has also served as Associate Dean for Interdisciplinary Studies in its College of Arts and Sciences. Since receiving her PhD at Yale University she has taught nineteenth- and twentieth-century British literature, though for the last ten years she has moved into the field of speculative literature. Her two books and many articles span these research areas; her most recent work deals with dys/utopianism in contemporary authors such as Margaret Atwood, Jeanette Winterson, Angela Carter and others. She is currently working on a co-edited essay collection on American intellectual Susan Sontag with her colleague Dr. Barbara Ching. Wagner-Lawlor recently won her university’s College of Arts and Sciences’ Distinguished Research Award in the humanities.
