Warchał, Krystyna, born 1971 in Katowice. 1995-2000: student in the Department of English, Faculty of Philology, University of Silesia, Katowice and doctoral student in the Faculty of Philology, University of Silesia, Katowice. 1995: MA in English from the University of Silesia, MA thesis in translation studies. 2001: Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Silesia, doctoral dissertation in text linguistics (“Linguistic Devices for the Grotesque in Fiction: Stylistic Exponents of Schema Deviation”). Since 2001: adiunkt (assistant professor) in the Institute of English, University of Silesia, Katowice. Since 2002: adiunkt (assistant professor) in the Higher School of Management and Foreign Languages (Wyższa Szkoła Zarządzania Marketingowego i Języków Obcych) in Katowice and since 2003 teacher in the Teacher Training College in Jastrzębie Zdrój.

Fields of study: text linguistics, stylistics, translation studies, sociolinguistics

Memberships: PASE – Polish Association for the Study of English since 1999.
