ABSTRACT:
The aim of this study is to challange the good will behind well known and widespread organisations in charge of teaching English and to raise awareness regarding the future of the so-called number-one spoken/needed language in the world today, i.e. English. And the future says (according to recent studies) that the top of "most spoken languages" is already changing for new leaders, like Mandarin, Spanish and others. For some reason this trend is not taken into consideration by national education systems that keep on including English (only) at a large scale, endangering the future of (or at least misleading) today's learners. I need add that being an English teacher saves this article from looking like a personal vendeta against "English". It is just meant as the other side of a coin that we all use in today's world.
