ABSTRACT:

Migration is a process that involves significant changes in an individual’s life. People’s experiences of migration may show differences depending on their environment, the host culture they come into, their native culture, gender and many other factors. This paper aims to discuss the influence of native culture on the stress coping strategies of migrant women. It focuses on Turkish women living in UK and the similarities and differences in their ways of coping with stress compared to English women. It is mainly based on a recent research which has suggested that there are differences in the stress coping mechanisms of Turkish women living in UK in comparison to English women.
