ABSTRACT:

Our paper attempts to approach the theme of travel in the poem “Hyperion ” by Mihai Eminescu – Hyperion’s travel towards the cosmic space, “to the ultimate limits”, where the “time is vainly trying to be born from empty spaces”. It is an etnocentric discourse (Todorov), a romantic travel towards the “beginning of worlds” and towards the “beginning of all beginnings”. Poet of the endless moving cosmic material, Eminescu places the travel of Hyperion towards the Demiurge in a cosmogonic landscape that we are also attempting to describe in the paper. The poet’s mission seems to be a revelation of the world’s variety , as well as of the infinite values that make possible a resettlement in a universal vision of things. Our intention is the re-descovery and re-confirguration of the poetical meanings identified along Hyperion’s travel.
