5.1. Innovation and Reproduction in Literature. The Narrative |
Azat Yeghiazaryan (Armenian National Academy of Sciences, Yerewan)
The papers, presented in the section, concerned many national literatures (Armenian, German, Tamil, Argentinean etc.) and problems of their development. The central problem was the evolution, which changes literature radically in the XX century.
The problem of Narrative was discussed in this context. Different tendencies influence the development of narrative in passed century, and sometimes these tendencies bring forth very interesting novels. But the new novel is losing most of its audience or readers.
Thus the XX century novel no longer possesses a great audience and does not even seek for it. So one can say, that these novels - for example, "Ulysses" by Joyce - reflect the crisis of narrative, and the crisis of narrative reflects the crisis of European literature and culture.© Azat Yeghiazaryan (Armenian National Academy of Sciences, Yerewan)
