Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems
Up to fall 2003 some 4000 scholars worldwide have been participating in the Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems. The INST had been invited to prepare contributions on the topics Culture, Civilization and Human Society (6.23) and Literature and the Fine Arts (6.24). The articles were intended to show that art and culture are the basis of all human development. Attached is the Table of Contents of the INST contributions. The Introductions of 6.23 and 6.24 were published in the book "Knowledge for Sustainable Development," which the General Director of UNESCO, Matsuura, presented at the UN-Summit in September 2002 in Johannesburg. Details about the book and the project or the Online-edition can be found on the WWW: http://www.eolss.net/
