ABSTRACT:

The compartmentalization of the world into first, second or even third worlds or put differently, developed, developing and undeveloped worlds has had unquantifiable and far reaching negative implications for the psyche of Africa as a continent and by implication the health systems and disease conditions in Africa.

The objective of this paper is to provide an objective and systematic review and evaluation of the disease conditions in Africa with special references to HIV/AIDS pandemic within the framework of theories in social psychology and also to provide a framework for a concrete and action-oriented dialogue on the knowledge acquired, transformations made and lessons learnt from these.

Another primary challenge for this paper is to evaluate how this knowledge has been concretized within cultural understandings in the eradication of HIV/AIDS. How has these cultural knowledge and transformations assisted with eradicating HIV/AIDS in African countries? What success story are we telling in Africa?
