ABSTRACT:
In the month of November 2006, during the tour of the play Paracelsus by Arthur Schnitzler, I was in Trento, at the San Marco Theatre. In that occasion Professor Fabrizio Cambi, Director of Trento University, Faculty of Literature and philosophy, told me about Jura Soyfer. I begin to read some scripts (Vineta, Astoria, Weltuntergang). After the reading we decided to represent Weltuntergang with our young actors. The show has been represented at “Teatro Italia” Poirino (Turin), "Teatro Romano" Acqui Terme, the 11/10/2007 we will be at "Teatro Gobetti" Torino and the16/10/2007 at "Teatro Alfieri" Asti.
It was a surprising adventure to find out the Soyfers singular dramaturgy through an organic approach and to realize that, in this way, the scenes are discovered using the instrument of improvisation (of course in the respect of what the author wanted to communicate). In my personal point of view, we cannot work on this author leaving his personal tissue apart: his soul mates, his theaters, his lightness supported by his bravery. The author writes between the two wars in a constant state of danger and fear, and he smells the air full of the politics of that time. What I’ve found wrong footing the most, and at the same time fascinating, is the continuous reaching new stratum of comprehension of text, by whom you cannot escape: they hold your hand and conduct you deeper and deeper through the experience. What was ironic at first, becomes point of reflection therefore; a gust of wind that opens the window of humor. Incredibly soft, Soyfer gives us a new language, a very fresh (and sometimes naive) way to analyze times and tragedies. I often sit and think “What he would probably do to carry out practically his fantastic ideas on planets, spacecrafts and travels in the deep of the sea?” I’d like to think that he would have found in the big screen a powerful vehicle for his visions. Considering this, Jura Soyfers theatre is able to speak to all the audience and in particular to the youngest people.
