Today migration has become an important component of the political, economic and cultural reality and influences the social climate and cultural level of society. That can be seen in the language, culture and Weltanschauung, among other places. With respect to migration, however, we have to report a paradoxical phenomenon: In the expanding European Union one sees the dominant national languages and cultures as the source of enrichment and as a precondition of political and economic stability in Europe. On the other hand, the languages and cultures of people who migrate are very often regarded in everyday life, in politics, in the media, etc. as the source of problems and deficits. For this reason the following questions and topics, among others, will be discussed in this section.
What status do immigrated minorities and their languages have?
What socio-cultural and political characteristics does the "the last wave" of migration have?
What are the characteristics of migration from a political and social perspective?
What cultural-scientific perspectives do migration, multilingualism and multiculturalism have?
In what alternating relationships do migration and literary processes stand?
What cultural aspects does migration have?
What influence does migration have on "traditional" school and university systems?
Multilingualism and youth culture.
