ABSTRACT:

Traditional societies tend to be self-centered. Even technologies tend to have a (concrete) cultural background. With the world becoming increasingly inter-connected, traditional societies need to go through the process of globalization. We think the most effective way to become a global society of different cultures is through culture transfer and use it as a driving force to achieve this end. The panel will focus on this aspect. It will examine past success as well as future efforts required. Scholars from the so-called Occident and Orient will present talks on the transfer of literature and arts, including visual and audio works, to other cultures (Judeo-Christian, Islamo-Arabic, South Asian, and East Asian)and continents.
